2009 RedSnook Fishing Tournament : More than 50 teams participated in the 2008 RedSnook Catch & Release Charity Tournament Oct. 3-5, netting more than $60,000 for the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. Proceeds will fund juvenile game fish research, a four-year study to help decision makers understand how to conserve and restore juvenile game fish habitat. “We are extremely pleased with these results, which met our goals,” said Conservancy President and CEO Andrew McElwaine. “The event itself was a success in helping us forge stronger relationships with anglers, while the money raised will ultimately help ensure that our waters remain viable for sport fishing far into the future.” This International Game Fish Association (IGFA) certified tournament was open to teams and individuals.

TALENT SHOWCASE AT THE PLANTATION CLUB IN NAPLES : Wow, what a great event hosted by Talent, The Agency of Choice! The people of Southwest Florida have decided that a tough economy can't keep them down. Everyone who attended last night's event at the Plantation Club shared a passionate desire to "help each other out" during these tough times. The music, food, and atmosphere were excellent and it seemed like many people were able to make some great connections. The ladies over at Lyfe of the Party had this place looking amazing! There were also a variety of entertainers there who provided some great tunes and good shows. I had a blast shooting the event with my friend, TJ, of TJ Freeman Photography. Barbara's Friends Tea Party at Bay House : When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it affects the entire family. Fortunately for our local families, Barbara’s Friends was created and kids with cancer could get the best cancer treatments available in the world and still be able to stay at home with their parents, siblings and friends. Our local children can return to school. Parents can return to work and try to maintain a “normal" life and routine. Prior to Barbara’s Friends, families had to travel to Tampa or Miami and spend many, many days and nights away from home. Open since 1997, the Barbara’s Friends Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Outpatient clinic has treated over 3,000 sick children from throughout Southwest Florida. As part of The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida at HealthPark in Fort Myers, this center is one of nine in the state and is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, a cooperative research group supported by the National Cancer Institute. Barbara’s Friends initially built and equipped the outpatient clinic and continues today providing equipment and the best in medical care. In addition, the Fund supports an Inpatient Pediatric Pharmacy, a Music Therapist, the Entwistle Foundation Music Room, and much more. An endowment fund has been established for continued support. Barbara’s Friends was created by Frank and Betty Haskell in honor of their daughter, Barbara, who lost her four year battle against breast cancer. During this time, Barbara marveled at the bravery of young children with cancer and wanted to help them. Her parents made her dream come true. The rainbow in the logo comes from Barbara’s lifelong love of the classic film, “The Wizard of Oz” and its memorable song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. The heart at the end of the rainbow symbolizes the theme of love and hope for children with cancer. Barbara lost her fight against cancer.
